Located just 15 minutes north of downtown Grand Rapids, lives Rockford – a growing city proudly situated on the banks of the Rogue River. At its center, Rockford offers a superior combination of a vibrant downtown mixed with open country and everything in between. Downtown Rockford has become an epicenter for many surrounding communities due to the superb local food (Rockford Brewing Company, Reds on the River) and many quaint shops and boutiques.
Rockford has become a major destination for those looking to raise a family - most of this is due to the outstanding school district. Rockford Public Schools combine all aspects of a truly excellent public school system. In the academic arena, Rockford High School offers over 14 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, not to mention a 98% graduation rate and a Top 250 rating by Newsweek. On the athletic side of things, Rockford High School has won over 47 state championships, and has graduated many athletes that have gone on to compete at a national level. And yes, the Arts program is on par with the rest. An award winning Band program and top-notch Theater program help bolster their reputation as one of the most creative and brightest schools in the area.
While Rockford has the characteristics of a growing city, it also caters to the outdoor lovers. The Rogue River offers recreational activities that both families and thrill seekers alike can enjoy. The Rockford area is home several lakes and rivers, both public and private. Both all-sports lakes to watercraft restricted waters are offered – making it perfect for any type of water enthusiast. Whether it's swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing, or jet skiing, the Rockford area's many lakes and rivers await. For those interested in land adventures, The White Pine Trail bends and winds through Rockford stopping at many beautiful scenic overlooks. Recently added Art Van Sports Complex will also look to draw thousands of visitors each year. The $8 million project had its grand opening this past October.
Rockford wouldn’t quite be Rockford if it didn’t have its annual Start of Summer Celebration. For over 40 years, the festival has attracted tens of thousands of visitors to celebrate the official beginning of summer. The event includes: carnival rides, food, games, contests, crafts, demonstrations, live music, beer tents and fireworks.
Thankfully, the search for a home becomes an easy choice when Rockford is discovered.
